LeAnn Rimes has been a stepmom to new hubby Eddie Cibrian's kids for only two weeks. So, the fact that she twittered a Mother's Day message giving a shout-out to "bonus moms" like herself isn't sitting well with everyone.
"Happy Mother's day weekend to all the Mom's out there. The 'Bonus Moms', Godmother's, Grandmothers and anyone who is a woman who helps love and raise children," twittered Rimes, who has changed her Twitter account name to LeAnn Rimes Cibrian and also updated her description to say "WIFE" and "Bonus Mom."
But at least one publication is taking issue with her words, as E! Online posted a blog post with the headline, "Is LeAnn Rimes Trying to Ruin Mother's Day for Eddie Cibrian's Ex?" The article says that Rimes, 28, "has an interesting set of criteria as to who gets to be honored on Mother's Day this Sunday and it's not just moms." It goes on to say the country superstar "couldn't resist taking to Twitter to suggest she deserves a share of the spotlight."
If Rimes' tweet was a slap in the face to Brandi Glanville -- the mother of Cibrian's two kids, Mason, 7, and Jake, 4 -- then Cibrian's next move could feel more like a punch to the gut.
A source told E! News that Cibrian is poised to sue Glanville if she goes ahead with plans to have the kids make appearances on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Glanville joined the cast of the Bravo show this week and won't be shy about sharing her feelings about her ex and his new wife.
"He has been sending her threatening emails about having their children appear on television," the source says. "If anyone uses the children for press, it's Eddie. He just put out a big picture of himself, LeAnn and the kids from their wedding."
Though the boys have not yet been filmed for the reality show, Glanville doesn't see a problem with it. "If there is a birthday party or something going on involving children, she's going to take them," the source says. "They can be shot in the background from far away like all the other kids are in the show. It's not a big deal."
We definitely haven't seen the end of this saga, despite earlier attempts at a truce between Rimes and Glanville.
In fact, Rimes was right back on Twitter a few hours after the Mother's Day tweet, responding to a fan who said the press was being unfair to her. "(G)uess every stepmother/ 'bonus mom' who loves their spouse's Children don't count?!," Rimes wrote. "It's about unconditional love."
In addition to love, it seems like some family counseling for these battling parties couldn't hurt!
