It was the gasp heard 'round the reality TV world, when American Idol front-runner Pia Toscano was eliminated from the singing competition last Thursday night. But fans of the New Yorker can dry their tears, as it seems the 22-year-old beauty is already cashing in on her Idol success.
According to UsMagazine.com, Toscano has already snagged a deal with Interscope Records, run by Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine.
"Pia is being signed to a deal with Interscope Records who are rushing her into the studio to record an album ASAP," an insider blabbed. "Starting (Thursday) night after the show, Interscope told her they wanted her and first thing (Friday) morning. Interscope brass started calling every top songwriter and producer in town to get an album together and rush release it."
Sources say the finishing touches of the deal are just being taken care of.
"Papers are being finalized. It's basically a done deal. She's signing. They rushed everything but she's so excited."
Meanwhile, Toscano's ousting may be benefiting her social life, as well. According to People.com, the singer went out on a first date with Dancing with the Stars' pro Mark Ballas, 24, after meeting him on a CBS lot in Los Angeles.
The two were spotted having dinner at the Gulfstream restaurant in Century City Friday night.
Is this a romance made in reality TV heaven? Maybe. But one thing is for sure: When one door closes for Toscano, plenty more open!
